Happy New Year! I'm so excited to be back on the podcast after taking some time away. Life has been lifeing, but I'm here and ready to help you tackle the big goals you've set for this year.

In this episode, I share an amazing insight I learned from the book 10x is Easier Than 2x by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy. If you've been feeling like you're not making enough progress toward your goals—or even like you're falling behind—this episode is for you.

I'll walk you through a fresh way to measure your success that’s empowering, motivating, and rooted in progress, not perfection. Whether you're decluttering your kitchen, building a business, or connecting more with your kids, this mindset shift can change the way you see yourself and your achievements.

Key Takeaways:

  1. Focusing solely on future goals can feel like chasing the horizon—always out of reach.
  2. Measuring success by looking backward helps you recognize and celebrate your progress.
  3. A backward-focused mindset reduces stress, comparison, and self-doubt, keeping you motivated to move forward.

Okay, happy new year. I am so excited to be back on the podcast. I have been away for awhile and. I'll be honest with you. Life has been lifeing and I've not been doing a good job of managing all the things, but my goal is that you will be hearing from me weekly here on the podcast. So if you are new to the real happy mom podcast, welcome. I am Toni Ann. I am the host of the real happy mom podcast. The podcast for busy working moms who need help with. Gaining more time and achieving their big goals without pulling their hair out. And in this episode, I am going to be sharing with you. Some insight that I learned that I really think is going to be helpful for you, especially as we are working toward these big goals that we've set at the beginning of the year. But before we get into the episode, um, I wanted to make a couple of announcements. The first one is if you have not been a part of the, let's get more time virtual. Well summit. It is coming in February. So please stay tuned for more information about that. It will be February 20th through to 22nd. You don't want to miss it. It's going to be great. Also the new year success bundle for busy moms. It is coming here as soon as well. It is a bundle with 16 awesome resources totally for free that you would normally have to pay for. That are all designed to help you make this new year a successful one for you. So, um, definitely check out the show notes for the links for both the summit, as well as the bundle. And make sure that I see you there because it's going to be really great. I mentioned earlier that I haven't been doing the best with juggling. All the things here. Especially with working home. I easily get distracted and I have a hard time with staying focused, but things have changed since I started using magic mind. Magic mind is a mental performance shot that I take in the mornings when I have several tasks that require me to focus and concentrate. So instead of drinking another latte or red bull, I like to drink magic mind. And I feel calm and focus. It's kinda like when Mario gets that mushroom inside of super Mario, you know, the game. So instead of growing and jumping higher, like Mario does, my superpower is a sharper mind and increased productivity. Anytime I take this magic mind shot. So I can focus on creating new content for real happy mom for extended periods of time. Or I can just really knock out tasks without feeling like I'm all over place. Plus, I can manage a busy schedule and. Still feel calm, which is really surprising, considering all the things that are going on around me. So no more feeling like squirrel brain or getting easily stressed out. I mean using magic mind for years and I absolutely love it. And I want you to give it a try too. So I want you to go to www dot magic, mind.com and experience the mental clarity and calm that I do. So I want to share with you what I was thinking and the download that I had while I was driving in the car. When I was. Really reflecting on this new book that I'm reading it is called 10 X is easier than two X. How world-class entrepreneurs achieve more by doing less? This book is by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy, if you're interested. definitely go on Amazon or wherever you get your books and check it out is really, really helpful, not just for entrepreneurs, but I think this will help you grow in all areas of your life, whether it be time, money, relationships, your purpose, or even your business. So I'm going to share with you something that has really stood out to me. As I've been reading this book and I hope it is helpful for you. As you are looking at. How you are progressing with their goals, especially if you feel like you are so far behind, you're not making any progress. You just feel like you're a failure or maybe you just feel like you're not good enough for whatever it is that you're working towards, whether it be, be cluttering, the kitchen, trying to. Start a new business, or maybe it's just trying to connect with your kids a little bit better. this has really, really helped me with how I see. Myself and how I'm making progress. So, let me stop and I'm going to go ahead and share with you. What I have been learning. So I'm in the process of listening to an audiobook called 10x is easier than 2x by Dan Sullivan. I was drawn to this book just because I have this knowing inside of me that knows that I could be doing so much more, that I'm capable of so much more, but I feel stuck and I feel small when I'm supposed to be so much bigger, so much brighter. This book has been really I'm in the part of the book where he is talking about the gap in the game. And this is a really interesting chapter that I'm probably going to listen to multiple times. And the reason is because it's really got me thinking about the reason why a lot of people feel like they're not successful and why they're unhappy with the state that they're in. And they explain it so beautifully in the book, but what actually happened? I've gathered from it is that a lot of times we're so focused on our goal. We're so focused on what it is that we're trying to achieve that, that future way out there. And we're working and striving towards it and making progress towards it. But it's just like trying to run and get to the, to the horizon. Like it's always moving. Like you're never going to catch it. And as a result, people get unhappy and are dissatisfied because. They feel like they're never achieving the, the end goal because the end goal is always moving and going further and further away. But the real way to really measure your success and measure how you're doing is to look backwards. And that's something that I don't do often, but when I do do it, I always am just amazed at what I've done and what I've accomplished. And basically in the book, the out there just talks about measuring your, your success right now, measuring your, measuring yourself based off of where you were before. So for instance, if I'm training for a marathon, let's just say I'm training for a marathon. If I look back two years ago, two years ago, I could barely walk a mile, but now I'm able to run three miles to four miles if you push me. And that is a huge win compared to where I was before. Now, can I run the 26 point, what is it, one miles? Right now, absolutely not. But I definitely can run four miles and I feel like I'm not about to die. Which is considerable considering how I couldn't even do one. So when I look at my, my progress that way, it's a lot more. Exciting. It's a lot more motivating than looking at, oh my goodness, I can only do four and I still, you know, have 22 more miles. I need to run that. That doesn't excite me. That makes me just feel worse. So looking at your success by looking backwards, I think it's a beautiful thing that we can do to help motivate ourselves, to help us stop comparing ourselves to. Help us stop beating up on ourselves so that we can continue to make efforts and take steps towards the goals and the dreams that we're working towards. So I know that there are all different things that we're working on, whether it be at work, at home just personally professionally, financially, health wise. There's so many different. Aspects of our lives that we can apply this to and I just wanted to remind you that You are making progress. You you are definitely better than where you were before and to Look in the past and look at where you were A few months ago a few years ago and see how much progress you've made and you'll see that You have definitely come a long way. Yes. There is still more improvement that needs to be made but You have definitely You've definitely made progress and this will help you to not look at everyone else and look at the world and look on the outside to get validation or to feel like you are enough or accomplishing enough, but look at what you've already done. Look at your past and see that you've made progress. You are awesome and you got this. So that is it for this episode to find the links and things mentioned in this episode.
